Visions at Sea!

On July 1, 2011, in the presence of our cellist Joachim Eijlander, Joey Roukens put the finishing touches on his newest composition Visions at Sea, written for the Rubens Quartet and commissioned by the Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam. We are thrilled and honored to have such a special piece written for us!  The world-premiere will take place on October 1, 2011, to mark the re-opening of the Scheepvaartmuseum, in the presence of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The Quartet will perform Visions at Sea throughout the entire 2011-12 season, often including it in our program celebrating 500 years of Dutch music! this autumn.
