The Rubens Quartet presents: Rondom Roukens
The Rubens Quartet will soon be releasing a long-awaited CD recording!
Listen to excerpts from the cd already!
As a document of our collaboration with composer-in-residence Joey Roukens (read more about the residency here), the Rubens Quartet is recording a CD with a very unusual combination of works. We are placing a masterwork of the standard quartet repertoire (Mozart K. 465) alongside two world-premiere recordings: a quartet arrangement of
transcendental vocal music that predates the existence of string instruments (Josquin Desprez/Roukens) and a modern Dutch work written expressly for the Rubens Quartet (Roukens "Earnest and Game"). We are honored to welcome world-renowned producer Wilhelm Hellweg (formerly of Philips Classics) to our team, who shares his priceless expertise and decades of experience with us. Wilhelm is expertly assisted by sound engineer Daan van Aalst. We are also very lucky to have Joey Roukens himself present during the recording process, which enables us to carry out the subtle nuances in his music to the best of our abilities.
The CD release party will take place on February 19, 2012 at 20:15, at the Bethaniënklooster in Amsterdam.
